    Hi everyone,

Well as someone that is going through a second bout of Shingles in three months I thought I'd ask if any of you have any tips for dealing with this. Never again will I think of Shingles as something minor - for such a small area covered the pain can be horrendous and the after effects can last for months or even years.

I found this article gave you the facts without any frills. My Doc says there's not much you can do to stave off further attacks as once you've had Chicken Pox the Shingles virus lies dormant in your system, but he did suggest a B+ vitamin supplement and also said that Vitamin C is thought to be helpful though not proven.

Have any of you had Shingles and if so, how did you deal with it?

Shingles is the only positive argument I have ever heard for childhood vaccination and only for Chicken Pox, mind.

My mother had shingles and all she could do was suffer. Her doctor said that he could give her some itch creme but it wouldn't help much. She was prone to infection and every once in a while a shingles out-break would get infected and she would wind up in hospital. She suffered for about eight years and eventually it just went away.
