Let me start off by saying that I have never been a fan of Britney Spears. But, I can not believe all the horrible things being said about her BODY after her recent performance. FAT? If that woman is FAT I must be an orca whale.

What do you think it is that has made society become so critical of our body image? The fashion industry and advertising are often blamed, but aren't WE the ones buying the magazines and buying into someone else's idea of perfection?

Somewhere along the way it's become acceptable to completely degrade another human being. Howard Stern comes to mind. I would occasionally catch a few minutes of his show while flipping through radio channels and hear a group of men critically dissecting every square inch of a woman's body. Why do some of us accept this as entertainment and why on Earth would ANY woman subject herself to it?

From what I've read, American women are much more critical of themselves than others. But I think I read somewhere that Brazil is the plastic surgery capitol of the world.

So ladies and gentlemen, what are your thoughts? Are you critical of your self image and/or others?

When she walked off the stage, before her mic was turned off, she said that she was a fat pig. It's so sad. "Her people" have been telling her how perfect she is for so long that when she saw herself in the monitors it shocked her to realize she wasn't. Unfortunately, a girl with her state of self destruction and depression can't handle something like that.

    One word........MONEY!

Yes, Brazilian government encourages and pays for plastic surgery. But it's very inexpensive to begin with down there.

Yes, I can be, but it's no where to the point of obsession like some of these girls in the public eye.

    Hi Jeni!

I've never been a fan of Britney, but she is a pretty girl and I agree.....she is by no means FAT.
