Spooky Cookies

    Spooky Cookies

    1 3/4 cup wheat flour
    1 cup. plain flour
    1 tsp.pumpkin pie spice
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 cup margarine or butter
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp vanilla
    1/2 cup sour cream
    3 ounces yellow or red candy, finely crushed

    1. Combine flours, spice, baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon salt.


    2. In a bowl beat margarine or butter until softened.


    3. Add sugar beat until fluffy.


    4. Add egg and vanilla beat well.


    5. Add flour mixture and sour cream alternately, beating well.


    6. Halve dough. Cover, chill for 2 hours or until easy to handle.


    7. On a lightly floured surface roll half of the dough 1/8 inch thick.


    8. Cut out cookies with a 6 inch pumpkin cutter or use a knife to cut out 6 inch pumpkin shapes.


    9. Place on foil lined cookie sheets.


    10. Using cutters or sharp knife, cut out eyes, mouths, or noses.


    11. Use dough scraps to make noses or eyebrows attach.


    12. With knife, make stem and vein marks in cookies.


    13. Spoon enough candy into each cutout to fill hole.


    14. Repeat with remaining dough, reroll as necessary.


    15. Bake in a 200 degrees celsius oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until very

    light brown around edges.


    16. Cool on baking sheets 10 minutes. Peel off foil cool. Store in airtight container.
